On Sunday, January 14, 2024, Shaker Arts Council’s documentary film, Conversations in Courage: The Visit will be shown as a part of Shaker Heights’ MLK Celebration: Witness to History. The revised film depicts the events surrounding Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 1965 visit to Shaker Heights and includes interviews with many of those involved. The viewing will be held at Stephanie Tubbs Jones Community Building, 3450 Lee Rd, Shaker Heights, OH 44120.
The event is from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and features the film screening and a live discussion with residents who lived during Dr. King's visit to Shaker Heights moderated by Donna Whyte, host of the "Witness to History" series of recorded interviews with Shaker residents. This is part of a series of events being sponsored by the City of Shaker Heights, the Shaker Heights Schools and the Shaker Library. This event is free and open to the public.
