Artist's statement about the utility box design:"I would like to depict the harmony and peace in the scenery."
Anna Hsu seeks to express the philosophy of benevolence through tranquil images of trees and blossoms. She finds peace, balance and inspiration through brush strokes in painting and Chinese calligraphy. She searches for good philosophies in life such as Daoism and enjoys expressing these concepts in her paintings.
She has studied brush painting since 1996 under Mitzi Lai of Cleveland, Josephine Tsai of Philadelphia, and the late Mrs. Nai-Chi Wu of Akron. She has studied water color paintings and joined water color workshops locally in recent two years. Her paintings have been exhibited in various art shows and juried into the Shaker Heights Library Barbara Luton Competition several times, where she won an Honorable Mention in 2009. One of her paintings was also juried into Airport's 2015 “Inspirations” Exhibition. Anna is a retired lead medical technologist from the Cleveland Clinic, and lives in Shaker Heights. She is a member of the Evergreen Artists group. Website
