SHAC on TRAC 2017

See the complete sculpture of tiles on display at the Shaker Heights Main Library this summer.

Examples of the tiles that have been created for our collaborative community art project.
Everyone has a Story to Tell
Together, we created a one of a kind sculpture. At each SHAC on TRAC event, SHAC provided materials for you to tell your unique story, and  when combined, the stories wtell a tale of our community. On one side of a “tile” you shared your story visually, on the other, you could express a brief narrative of that story. We encouraged you to bring an object or objects from home that expressed your story.

Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) presents SHAC on TRAC –The Road to Arts & Community, a celebration of our mission to build the community through the arts and to build the arts through the community. SHAC on TRAC, a series of three “block parties extraordinaire” with entertainment for all ages, will take place throughout the summer. The events featured an interactive art activity, live music and strolling entertainers.   The art activity  engaged each participant in creating and contributing one “piece” to a unity sculpture that grew with each subsequent event.  The theme of the art project will be “Everyone has a Story to Tell.”  All events are free and open to the public.
SHAC on TRAC kicked off Saturday, June 24, 2017 with the Ludlow Community Association as host.  The event featured Ludlow’s own Ronny Love, former lead singer for the Drifters.
The July SHAC on TRAC took place Friday, July 21, 2017 in collaboration with the SCENE Van Aken Beer Garden.
