The Hoopes Trio


Anna Hoopes

Violist Anna Hoopes, age 17, currently studies with Jeffrey Irvine at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Anna began her study of the violin at age five with Nancy Lokken in Minneapolis and continued with Sally O'Reilly at the University of Minnesota. She also studied the violin with Paul Kantor at the Cleveland Institute of Music until she made a transition to study the viola as her first instrument. As a student at the ENCORE School for Strings for the past five summers Anna has studied with Linda Cerone, David Updegraff, David Russell, Dorothy Mauney and Jeffrey Irvine. At ENCORE Anna has performed in recitals and special events. For the past five summers Anna has studied with Brian Lewis, Associate Professor of Violin at the University of Texas at Austin. Anna has performed in master classes for David Cerone, Linda Cerone, Catherine Cho, Stephen Clapp, Paul Kantor, Paul Katz, Peter Salaff, and Sharon Robinson.

During Anna's career she has won various state and local music competitions, invitations to perform, and other solo recital invitations. Anna has performed with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the Hilton Head Youth Orchestra, and at the Bridge Chamber Music Festival. In 2006 Anna performed by invitation for the Bermuda Conservatory of Music. In 2007 Anna was invited by the Governor and First Lady of Ohio to perform at the Ohio Governor's Mansion in Columbus. In December 2007 Anna performed on "From The Top," a nationally broadcast radio program.

Anna is the principal violist of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra at Severance Hall. Anna has played in a trio, "The Playing Hoopes" for the past four years which has been coached by Tom Rosenburg, Margo Tatgenhorst-Drakos, Annie Fullard, and Dorothy Mauney.
 

Alexandra Hoopes

Violinist Alexandra Hoopes, age 15, currently studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Paul Kantor. Alexandra began her study of the violin at age four with Nancy Lokken and continued with Sally O'Reilly at the University of Minnesota. As a student at the ENCORE School for Strings for the past four summers Alexandra has studied with David Cerone, President of the Cleveland Institute of Music, Linda Cerone, David Russell, and David Updegraff. At ENCORE Alexandra has performed in four solo events. For the past five summers Alexandra has studied with Brian Lewis, Associate Professor of Violin at the University of Texas at Austin. Alexandra has performed in master classes for David and Linda Cerone, Catherine Cho, Stephen Clapp, Paul Kantor, Fredell Lack, and David Updegraff.

Alexandra has appeared as a soloist and performed with several orchestras, including the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, the Suburban Symphony Orchestra in Cleveland, the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Sinfonia Orchestra, the Minnesota State Fair Orchestra, and the Hilton Head Youth Orchestra.

At age six Alexandra began winning many conservatory music competitions, state scholarship competitions, performance opportunities, and giving her time in public service outreach opportunities to raise funds for charity. She has enjoyed many invitations to participate in festivals, solo recitals, including traveling to Bermuda as a guest recitalist in four performances. In 2007 Alexandra was invited by the Governor and First Lady of Ohio to perform at the Ohio Governor's Mansion in Columbus. In December 2007 Alexandra performed on "From The Top," a nationally broadcast radio program.

Alexandra is a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra at Severance Hall. She also currently studies in a trio with her brother and sister coached by Annie Fullard, first violin of the Cavani String Quartet.
 

Chad Hoopes

Violinist Chad Hoopes, age 13, has appeared as a soloist and performed with several orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Sinfonia Orchestra, the Bloomington Minnesota Symphony, the Hilton Head Youth Orchestra, the Firelands Symphony in Ohio, and the Erie Pennsylvania Philharmonic Orchestra. Chad has been heard live on WCLV 104.9 FM radio in Ohio. In June 2007 Chad performed with his violin in a television commercial for the Cleveland Indians produced by SportsTime Ohio, which aired on NBC, SportsTime Ohio Network and Time Warner National Cable Network / ESPN.

Chad currently studies with David Cerone, President of the Cleveland Institute of Music and David Russell. Chad began his study of the violin at age four in Minneapolis with Nancy Lokken and continued with Sally O'Reilly at the University of Minnesota. As a student at the ENCORE School for Strings for the past four summers Chad has studied with David Cerone, Linda Cerone, and David Russell. At ENCORE Chad has performed eight solo events. For the past five summers Chad has studied with Brian Lewis, Associate Professor of Violin at the University of Texas at Austin. Chad has performed in master classes for David and Linda Cerone, Catherine Cho, Stephen Clapp, Doris Preucil, Paul Kantor, David Updegraff, and last Spring with Pinchas Zukerman.

During Chad's career he has won various state and scholarship competitions, invitations to festivals, and guest solo recitals. In 2006 Chad performed by invitation for the Bermuda Conservatory of Music. In 2007 Chad won the Cleveland Alumnae International Music Fraternity competition. Also in 2007 Chad was invited by the Governor and First Lady of Ohio to perform at the Ohio Governor's Mansion in Columbus. In December 2007 Chad performed on "From The Top," a nationally broadcast radio program.

Chad is a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra at Severance Hall. He also currently studies in a trio with his two sisters coached by Annie Fullard, first violin of the Cavani String Quartet. Other accomplishments in 2007 include advancing to the rank of Life Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
